Dadal Soum center, situated in Khentii province, is approximately 540 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar.
After extensive research and deliberation, the birthplace of Genghis Khan has been determined to be Deluun Boldog. Deluun Boldog holds great historical significance as the site where Temuujin, who would later be known as Genghis Khan, was born in 1162. Located near the confluence of the Onon and Balj Rivers in present-day Dadal Soum, Deluun Boldog stands as a lasting testament to the early life of this legendary figure.
This area is characterized by its breathtaking natural beauty, composed of serene forests, abundant wildlife, picturesque lakes, rivers, and natural springs. As you explore the surroundings, you will observe local visitors engaging in ceremonial climbs and paying their respects at the cairn situated atop Deluun Boldog Hill. Just 1 km west of the hill, you will discover Khajuu Bulag Spring, intimately tied to Temuujin’s familial history as the water source for his family, documented in the Secret History of the Mongols.
In honor of Genghis Khan’s 800th birth anniversary in 1962, a remarkable 12-meter-tall statue was erected at Gurban Nuur Lake, located 3 km north of Dadal Soum. This iconic statue serves as a prominent symbol celebrating the enduring legacy of Genghis Khan within the region, perpetuating his memory for generations to come.
