Khuiten peak is the highest peak in Mongolia with 4,356m above sea level and a permanent snow cap in the Altai mountain range. Located far 2000km west from Ulaanbaatar city (Capital of Mongolia) just stone throw away close to Chinese border. One of the top touristic destination for mountain lovers in Mongolia. From the mountain Khuiten lasting down east Potanini glacier that remained relatively unchanged since the last ice age. Since Khuiten is the highest point of the Tavan Bogd massif also includes the other peaks such as Nairamdal (friendship)4,180m, Naran (sun), Malchin (herder)4,050m, Burged (Eagle)4,068m, and Olgii (land) 4,050m, Tsagaan Suvarga (white stupa). The Khuiten peak of Tavan Bogd massif is the second highest summit in the Altai mountain range when the highest being mount Belukha in Rusian Altai side.

Day – 1

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar
  • Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and our team will meet you up at the airport and drive directly to your hotel. After few hours you will meet your guide again and do city tour in Ulaanbaatar. Visit Zaisan hill where you will have the best view of Ulaanbaatar city. Visit Gandan monastery and local museum.

Day – 2

Take a flight to Ulgii in western Mongolia
  • Arrive in Ulgii and same day drive to the gate of Altai Tavan Bogd national park and on your way stop to see “Dear Stones” from ancient Turkic period and through snake valley reach the gate of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Do camping along white river valley (Akh Gol basi).

Day – 3

Potanini glacier & Base camp trekking
  • Live your vihicle around the gate there and start horse riding towards Tavan Bogd massif (five holly peaks of Mongolia which is more than 4000m higher) next to that mountains you will see 20km long Potanina Glacier. You can even walk on the glacier. Camp just next to that glacier. You will have two humped camels for your luggage transportations to Glacier side.

Day – 4

Hiking up to Malchin peak (Optional)
  • After breakfast your guide will guide you to 4th highest peak of Mongolia “Malchin peak” which is more than 4000 meters higher from sea level. You can get easily on the top of that peak. From the top of Malchin you will have full view to Russian territory and long and breathtaking views to Kazakhstan’s and Chinese snow capped Altai mountains. Same day you will come back to your same camping spot.

Day – 5, Day – 8

Climbing up to Khuiten peak
  • We put 4 days for Khuiten climbing activities as we may need spare days in case if we will expect bad weather during mountain climbing days. We need start hiking from base camp through Potaniin glacier and reach east-north bottom of Khuiten peak as camping base. All the way on glacier will be hiking but the actual technically moderate may take 4 hours up to Khuiten peak. From the summit you will have bird eye views to Chinese, Kazakhstan’s and Russian Altai mountain white snow tops. If the activity is done earlier than planned time you are able to hike back to white river valley and spend rest of your time for other cultural experiences with local nomads.

Day – 9

Hike back to white river valley (Tsagaan gol)
  • Start trekking back to the same gate of Altai Tavan Bogd national park. Have rest, relax and camp over there. Visit local tuvan nomadic families.

Day – 10

Drive back to Ulgii town & Eagle hunter
  • Today morning after you will have breakfast you will drive back to Ulgii town. On your way, you will stop to visit Eagle hunter’s family. Meet eagle hunter. See he already trained Golden Eagle, hold on your arm, you can be busy with photographing. Later that day you will arrive in Ulgii, stay at the local Hotel enjoy your dinner with the Kazakh tradition folk concert.

Day – 11

Take a flight to Ulaanbaatar city
  • At the Morning your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to local airport. Your guide in Ulaanbaatar will meet you up and take you to your Hotel room.

Day – 12

Terelj national park
  • Drive to Terelj national park. Visit Turtle rock and hike in Arabal temple (meditation center). Stay at local Ger camp resort.

Day – 13

Visit Chinggiss Khan’s statue
  • Drive to Chinggiss Khan’s statue in Sonjin boldog. Visit small museum inside. Hike up to Chinggiss khan’s horse head. At the same day drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Stay at your hotel.

Day – 14

Drive to the international airport
  • Drive to Chinggis Khan international airport and take flight to depart from Mongolia.
